Okay, so I decided to remake the Patek Philippe PP Nautilus 5711. This watch is a classic, and I’ve always wanted one. But, you know, the price is just insane. So, I thought, why not try to remake it myself?
First, I started digging around for information. I mean, I needed to know what I was getting myself into. I checked out a bunch of forums and websites about the original 5711, trying to get a feel for its design, its movement, everything. I even found some pretty good deals on original parts. But to be honest, those were a bit too much for me too.
Then, I started looking for alternative parts. It was tough. I mean, this isn’t just any watch, it’s a Patek Philippe. I needed to find parts that were decent quality. I spent a good amount of time comparing prices and materials.
Once I got all the parts, the real fun began. I started with the case. I had to get the rose gold color just right. That took some practice. I also found this brown dial that really looked the part, but it needed some work to fit my design. I can’t lie, there was a bit of trial and error there, but I finally got it looking pretty close to the real deal.
Putting the movement together was the most challenging part. I’m not a professional watchmaker, so I had to learn as I went. There were some moments when I thought I’d messed it up completely. But I kept at it, following online guides and videos.
Finally, after many hours of work, I managed to assemble the whole thing. And you know what? It actually worked! I was so happy when I first saw the second hand start ticking. I wore it around for a few days, just to make sure everything was working properly. It kept time pretty well, and it looked amazing on my wrist. If I do say so myself.
