Specialty Stores Release: Your Guide to the Remake Patek Philippe PP Gondolo 7041R-001

Today, I got this urge to remake a Patek Philippe watch, specifically the Gondolo 7041R-001, which is mainly sold in specialty stores. It’s a fancy ladies’ watch, you know, with a cushion-shaped case made of 18k rose gold and 108 diamonds around the dial. Pretty, right?

Getting Started

First, I searched for a ton of information about this watch. Found out it was introduced back in 1993, which makes it a relatively new model for Patek Philippe. I also learned that it’s tough to find these watches because they only make a limited number of them. This made me even more determined to try my hand at remaking it.

Collecting Materials

Next, I gathered all the materials I thought I would need. Since I couldn’t get real 18k rose gold or diamonds, I opted for some more practical alternatives. I found some rose gold-colored metal sheets and some shiny, sparkly beads that looked a bit like diamonds. I also got some basic watchmaking tools from a hobby store.

Shaping the Case

I started by trying to shape the metal into that cushion shape. Let me tell you, it was harder than it looked! I used some small hammers and files to slowly mold the metal. It took a lot of patience and a few do-overs, but I finally got something that resembled the Gondolo’s case.

Adding the “Diamonds”

Then came the fun part—adding the “diamonds.” I used a strong adhesive to carefully place each sparkly bead around the dial area, trying to mimic the pattern of the real 7041R-001. It was a bit tedious, but seeing it come together was really satisfying.

Creating the Dial

For the dial, I printed out a high-resolution image of the 7041R-001’s dial and carefully cut it out. I then stuck it onto a thin piece of metal that I had cut to fit inside the case. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty good from a distance.

Assembling the Watch

Finally, I assembled all the parts. I placed the dial inside the case and added some generic watch hands that I had bought. I didn’t have a real watch movement, so this remake was more for show than actual timekeeping.

The Final Result

After hours of work, my homemade Gondolo 7041R-001 was complete! It wasn’t an exact replica, of course, and it certainly wasn’t worth as much as a real Patek Philippe, but I was proud of what I had accomplished. It was a fun and challenging project that taught me a lot about the craftsmanship that goes into making these luxury watches.

This whole experience gave me a new appreciation for watchmakers. It’s not just about slapping some parts together; there’s a real art to it. I might not be making any more watches soon, but who knows what other projects I’ll get inspired to do next!

  • Remember, this was just a fun project and not meant to be a real substitute for a Patek Philippe watch.
  • If you’re thinking about getting a real Patek Philippe, make sure to do your research and decide whether a new or pre-owned watch is right for you.

  • And always appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these beautiful timepieces!
