Hey everyone, today I want to share my latest project: replicating the Fendi Mon Tresor Mini Leather & Mesh Bucket Bag. This was a fun one, and I’m excited to walk you through the whole process.
Getting Started
First things first, I spent a good amount of time just looking at pictures of the original bag online. I checked out different angles, zoomed in on the details, you know, the usual stuff. I also read some descriptions to get a feel for the materials used, like “brown calfskin embossed” and “FF motif.” There’re also mentions of “micro bags,” “minibags,” and “Boston bags.” I guess those are just different styles, but the Mon Tresor is the one I’m after.
Gathering Materials
Next, I had to find the right materials. I went to a few local fabric and leather stores and managed to find some brown leather that looked pretty close to the original. The mesh part was a bit trickier, but I eventually found a similar looking mesh fabric online. Also picked up some gold-colored hardware since the original bag has those shiny accents. Someone online mentioned the bag is “1000% Authentic Genuine,” so I wanted to make sure my materials were decent quality, too.
Cutting and Sewing
Now for the fun part! I used the dimensions I found online to create a pattern for the bag. It’s a small bucket shape, so I cut out two circular pieces for the base and a long rectangular piece for the body. Then, I carefully cut out the mesh panels according to the pattern. I’m not the best at sewing, but I took my time and managed to sew the leather and mesh pieces together. The “FF motif” was a challenge, I have to say.
Embossing the Leather
The original bag has this cool “FF” pattern embossed on the leather. I did some research and found a few different ways to emboss leather at home. I ended up using a simple method with a dull pencil and a damp sponge. It wasn’t perfect, but I managed to create a subtle “FF” pattern on the leather pieces before sewing them together. I saw somewhere that the real one is “hand-painted,” but I figured embossing would be close enough for my project.
Attaching the Hardware
Once the main body of the bag was assembled, I attached the gold-colored hardware. This included the drawstring closure at the top and the little rings on the sides for the strap. It was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get everything in place. I noticed that the authentic bag is available at “FARFETCH” and “Mytheresa.” I can see why; these designer bags are intricate!
Adding the Strap
For the strap, I used a long strip of the same brown leather and attached it to the rings on the sides of the bag. I made sure the strap was long enough to wear comfortably over the shoulder. They say “Secure Payment Methods” and “Express Shipping” on those fancy websites, but I was happy to just make my own strap.
The Final Result
And there you have it! My very own Fendi Mon Tresor Mini Leather & Mesh Bucket Bag replica. It’s not exactly like the original, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot about working with leather and mesh. One site claimed “Big discounts on our products here – up to 90% off!” but I bet they don’t have the satisfaction of making it yourself.
I even found an ad that said, “Stop swiping down the screen,” but I had a good time browsing and getting ideas. I also saw “Book an Appointment” on one of the official-looking sites. Maybe they give you a personal tour of all the bags! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little journey into my DIY bag-making adventure. Until next time!
