Man, today was a doozy. I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch for months, the one with the open case back, you know? And today, I finally went for it. Decided to hit up a few specialty stores around town. First, I went to the downtown one.

Walked in, and the place was pretty swanky. They had a whole wall dedicated to these Speedmasters. I spotted the Moonwatch right away. Asked the guy there to take a look, and wow, it’s even more stunning up close. 42mm case, but it wears smaller, which is perfect for my wrist. They talked about the Co-Axial escapement and how it’s a Master Chronometer, but honestly, I was just admiring how cool it looked.

Then, I figured I’d check out another store, just to compare. Drove across town to this other boutique. This one was smaller, but they had a decent selection. Found the same Moonwatch there too. The sales guy was really pushing the history of it, how it was worn on the Apollo 11 mission and all that. I mean, that’s cool and all, but I was more into the design, especially that open back. You can see all the little gears and stuff moving around – it’s mesmerizing.

After that, I went to one last store, more out of curiosity than anything else. This one was a bit out of the way, but I’d heard they sometimes have rarer models. They had the Moonwatch, but they also had this other version with red accents. It looked pretty unique, but I wasn’t really feeling it. I’m more of a classic kind of guy.

I spent the rest of the afternoon just mulling it over. Went back to the first store, tried on the Moonwatch again.

  • Took it on and off my wrist.
  • Held it up to the light.
  • Looked at the details on the dial.

It just felt right. So, I took the plunge and bought it.

It’s sitting on my desk right now, and I can’t stop staring at it. The way the light catches the stainless steel, the intricate details on the dial, and of course, that beautiful open case back. It’s more than just a watch; it’s like a little piece of art. It was a long day, but totally worth it. I’m officially part of the Speedmaster club, and I couldn’t be happier.
